A PDF to mind map converter reads a document and shows its structure: the main subject in the middle, the big themes branching off it, and the details under each one. Upload a PDF here and lezrn builds that map from what is in it, so you can see how a chapter fits together before you learn the details.
How to turn a PDF into a mind map
Upload the PDF
Click Upload file or drop your PDF on the box. It needs selectable text. DOCX, TXT and MD files work too, and so does pasted text.
Make the map
Hit Make my mind map. The AI finds the main subject of the PDF, splits it into 4 to 7 main branches and fills each one with 2 to 5 sub-branches. Making one needs a free lezrn account.
Study from it
Read the main branches first for the big picture, then go into each one. Later, try to redraw the map from memory and check what you missed.
Example: a mind map of a chapter on the cell
Main branches on the left, their sub-branches on the right, in the format the tool builds. Your map comes from your own PDF.
- Cell membrane
- Phospholipid bilayer · Controls what enters and leaves · Proteins for transport and signals
- Nucleus
- Holds the DNA · Nuclear envelope with pores · Nucleolus makes ribosome parts
- Energy
- Mitochondria make ATP · Chloroplasts in plant cells capture light
- Making proteins
- Ribosomes build proteins · Rough ER folds them · Golgi packs and ships them
- Prokaryotes vs eukaryotes
- No nucleus vs a nucleus · Smaller and simpler · Bacteria vs plants, animals and fungi

A textbook chapter

Lecture slides
Slides come one at a time. A map of the slide PDF shows how the whole lecture hangs together.
A long reading or report
Get the main arguments and what supports each one, so you know where every detail belongs.
What you get
One root, the subject of your PDF. 4 to 7 main branches, each with 2 to 5 sub-branches, and a third level only where it really helps. Labels are short, six words at most, so the map stays readable. The AI is told to use only what is in your PDF.
The map shows up on the page as a branching tree you read from top to bottom. The free tool doesn't export it, so copy the text or take a screenshot if you want to keep it.
Scanned PDFs and long documents
The tool reads the text layer of the PDF. Typed documents and exported slides have one. Scanned pages are pictures of text, so they won't work.
Each run reads about the first 15,000 characters, around 2,500 words. For a whole book, split out one chapter at a time. Most PDF viewers can save a page range as a new file.
Is it free?
Making a map needs a free lezrn account. New accounts get a 7 day free trial with 300 credits and no card, and one mind map costs 2 credits. The full lezrn app can also turn the same PDF into a course with lessons, quizzes and flashcards, and schedule reviews so you keep it.
